We had always discussed moving the annual Paris-gang-ski-trip to a non-European locale, and with a majority of the group now living across other continents, 2007 proved to be the year of change!  Western Canada was the location of choice, and Fernie seemed to satisfy all of our key trip criteria - a rental house that could hold our entire group, walking distance to both the lifts and the bars, and high potential for lots of fluffy powder.  The house turned out to be the highlight of the trip, notably the huge hot tub on the rear deck.  The snow unfortunately did not meet all of our expectations - we managed to catch one of the few weeks during the year that did not provide any fresh snow in Fernie, and it seems that our luck of the past three years had finally run out :(.  But we made the best of our situation, and compensated by partying more and boarding less, which still made for some good stories and memories!  The moments that permanently stuck in my brain were as follows:

1.  Having to finally fulfill my side of the bet that I lost to Mike two years ago, which he won by breaking 4 hours in the Helsinki marathon.  I won't say exactly what I had to do to actually fulfill my end of the bet, but I will say that it involved hot wax and significant loss of body hair.

2.  How excited Jen and Chad got over helping me fulfill my lost bet.

3.  The Bears losing the Super Bowl to the Indianapolis Colts :(.  But I will concede that the Colts deserved the victory.

4.  Jen leading a strong but mis-guided female rebellion one night at the local pub. 

5.  The smell and sounds of the common bedroom shared by Steve, Paul, Chad, and Andy every night.

6.  Doing a belly flop into a hot tub that already was holding at least eight other people.
