Cecilia and I left work and headed up to CDG airport, and caught the last SAS flight to Stockholm. We arrived at about 9:00pm, and were picked up by Cecilia's father at the airport. I was surprised by the thick forest that started only minutes outside of the airport, and we saw nothing but trees and a few wheat fields for the remainder of the drive home. Cecilia's father lives in a house in a small town about 45 minutes north of Stockholm. We spent the rest of the evening talking and eating at home, and were asleep by about 2am.
Saturday morning we woke up (late) and had a good breakfast. Cecilia's father had prepared for her visit by buying her favorite breakfast food - a yogurt that is packaged in a milk container but is thicker to pour than maple syrup. It was certainly good. After breakfast we drove into Stockholm, parked in the outskirts of the city, and took the metro to City Hall (where the Nobel Prize is presented every year). We walked from City Hall through the old city, and stopped for lunch at a small restaurant on one of the main streets. The weather was perfect - a typical Swedish summer day. We returned home in the mid-afternoon, and decided to go for a swim in a nearby lake.
There is a law in Sweden that allows you to walk and camp anywhere you
desire, including on private property, as long as you are a reasonable
distance (~100 meters) from a person's front door. Cecilia's father
took us to a lake about 20 minutes from his house, where we crossed a private
property to access a deserted and very scenic lakeside. We swam and
sat on the rocks, and enjoyed the late afternoon sun. We returned
home around 8pm, and decided to order pizza for dinner. I went for
a run at sunset while Cecilia and her father went and picked up the pizza.
We spent the rest of the night eating and talking, and were in bed by midnight.

We woke up earlier on Sunday morning (9am), had another good breakfast,
and decided to go to a nearby park and lake for a run and swim. Cecilia
and I ran about 35 minutes through the forest trails, and then we spent
another hour or so swimming in the lake. The afternoon was approaching,
and we had to be at the airport by 2pm. We decided to go directly
to the airport, check in, and then have lunch in the terminal. We
got to the airport with no problem, ate lunch, and arrived back in Paris
in the early evening. We had a great weekend with Cecilia's father
and the gorgeous countryside outside Stockholm. A few images from
