A Rainy Graduation at Franklin Field

May 14th 1994.....the culmination of four years at the University of Pennsylvania.
The rain fell as we paraded down Locust Walk, and continued through the
entire graduation ceremony in Franklin Field. But, the lousy Philadelphia
weather had little effect on the spirits of the graduates. I spent
senior year living with ten guys in a four story house - 4040 Walnut Avenue.
We had combined two groups of friends that had lived in separate houses
during the previous year, but who had known each other since freshman year
in the Quad. It was a great idea, and resulted in many crazy parties,
stupid stunts, practical jokes, and other great memories. The house
has since been combined with the house next door, and converted into a
giant sorority! The only core member of the twelve-person group who
did not live in the house was Chad, who lived at his off-campus (and off-beat)
fraternity house nearby. Some pictures of the group after the graduation
ceremony:

The house was commonly referred to as the "cavern". We had called
our junior year house the "cave" due to its poor landlord upkeep and our
own lack of initiative to keep things clean. The senior year house
was much bigger, and therefore was dubbed with the scaled-up name of the
"cavern". Fortunately it was much better maintained and a good bit
cleaner that our junior year abode.
We have since gone in different directions and to opposite sides of
the planet. But, with the help of several reunions, a few weddings,
and many chance meetings, we have all kept in good contact. I hope
to continue my friendship with these guys for a long time. Other

The only people not included in the graduation photos are Jason, who
was home in Tampa with an injured knee, and Chak, who was a junior and
would not graduate until 1995. The two of them and Chad would spend
the next year at Penn together in what I consider the "post-cavern era".
Also, my mother is nowhere to be found in the picures, because she was
always behind our only camera! Thanks mom.
